A Billion-Shilling Sun: How Solar-Powered Irrigation is Transforming Agricultural Production in Abuli, Atana in Apac District

In the rolling plains of Abuli, Atana-Apac Sub County in Apac District, a quiet revolution is unfolding, one powered not by diesel engines or the seasonal mercy of rainfall, but by the sun itself. What was once parched farmland, vulnerable to drought and unpredictable weather patterns, will now be a vibrant agricultural landscape thanks to the solar-powered irrigation system from the Ministry of Water and Environment installed by Nexus Green Uganda, a project valued at over a billion shillings.

District Leadership Resolves to Intensify School Monitoring

Ms. Janet Odongo, PAS, has called for intensified monitoring and stricter inspections of schools as part of renewed efforts to improve academic performance in the district starting with the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

The resolution was reached during a strategic meeting with headteachers held at the Apac District Council Hall. The meeting brought together education stakeholders to assess current performance trends and agree on practical measures to raise learning outcomes.

The health camp is providing a wide range of free medical services, including general medical consultations, prostate & breast cancer screening, eye care checkups, and many others.
