Apac District Local Government Distributes Soyabean Seeds to Farmer Groups Under CSATP

Apac District Local Government this afternoon distributed N6 soyabean seeds and other agricultural inputs to four farmer groups under the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP) to boost climate-resilient agricultural production and improve household incomes.

The beneficiary groups include Abolokoma Elders of Apoi Sub-county, Mito Tute Group of Ibuje Town Council, Orib Can Farmers' Group of Apac Sub-county, and Laruda Fabrication Farmers' Group of Akere Division.

APAC DISTRICT LAUNCHES EXCAVATION OF FIVE FISH PONDS UNDER UCSATP TO BOOST AQUACULTURE

Apac District has officially launched the excavation of five fishponds under the Uganda Climate-Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP) at the Chegere Aquaculture Cooperative Union in Kidilani Parish, Chegere Sub-county. The launch was officiated by the District Chairperson, Hon. Ambrose Agec, marking another milestone in the district's efforts to improve household incomes through climate-smart agriculture and aquaculture.

APAC DISTRICT LAUNCHES DISTRIBUTION OF 150 KENYA TOP BAR HIVES UNDER UCSATP

The Apac District Chairperson, Hon. Ambrose Agech, officiated over the launch of distribution of 150 Kenya Top Bar Hives supplied under the Uganda Climate-Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP) to support beekeeping enterprises and enhance household incomes in the district.

The hives were handed over to the Laruda Beekeepers Group of Iping Village, Dam Ward, Akere Division, Apac Municipality, as part of the government's efforts to promote climate-smart agriculture, improve livelihoods, and strengthen environmental conservation through modern apiculture.

Disaster Incident at Igoti Primary School – Ibuje Sub County

A devastating rainstorm has caused significant destruction at Igoti Primary School in Ibuje Sub County, Apac District, leaving the school community and surrounding residents in distress.

The heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, struck the area unexpectedly, blowing off the roofs of all classroom blocks and staff quarters. Several nearby community houses were also destroyed, leaving families displaced and vulnerable.

Apac Rolls Out UGX 179 Million Rural Water Projects to Ease Access Burden

Apac District has handed over sites for the construction of eight water supply facilities worth over UGX 179 million, in a move aimed at expanding access to safe and clean water in underserved communities.

The projects, to be implemented by Mama Borewells Africa Ltd., were officially launched in Arwotnyap village, Chegere Sub-county, with Resident District Commissioner Andrew Onyuk presiding over the site handover.

District officials said the intervention targets communities that have long relied on unsafe water sources or traveled long distances to access clean water.

Apac District Budget Set to Rise to Shs34.9bn After New Government Planning Figures

Apac District is set to receive a larger development budget in the next financial year after updated government planning figures projected an increase in the district’s resource envelope following the release of the Second Budget Call Circular (BCC).

District Planner Benedict Agunsi revealed that the district’s indicative planning figure has increased to UGX 34,889,737,085, representing a rise of over UGX 2 billion compared to the current 2025/2026 financial year budget.

NARO Introduces Anti-Tick Vaccine to Protect Cattle in Apac

The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) has partnered with Apac District Local Government to combat tick infestation and tick-borne diseases affecting cattle through the introduction of a new locally developed vaccine.

The vaccine, NAROVAC Anti-Tick Vaccine (ATV1), was officially launched during a meeting with veterinary practitioners and district leaders at the Apac District Council Hall.

Don Mo Contractors Ltd Hands Over 12.7km NOSP Road to Apac District

Apac District has registered a significant milestone in road infrastructure development following the official handover of a 12.7-kilometer Atopi-Amin-Apok-Anyapo-Ayeng road constructed under the National Oilseed Project (NOSP) by Don Mo Contractors Ltd to the Apac District Local Government.

The commissioning ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Richard Kar Tabaaro, who commended the contractor for delivering the project and emphasized the government's commitment to improving rural infrastructure to enhance socio-economic transformation.

Community, Leaders Trained in Digital Skills to Boost Digital Inclusion in Apac

Community members, district staff, and political leaders from Apac District and Apac Municipality have completed a three-day digital skills development training aimed at empowering rural unserved and underserved communities to fully participate in the digital economy.

The training, conducted from 18th to 20th February 2026 at the Planning Unit Boardroom at Apac District Headquarters, was organized by the Uganda Communications Commission and implemented by Epic Brands.
