Apac District Budget Set to Rise to Shs34.9bn After New Government Planning Figures

Apac District is set to receive a larger development budget in the next financial year after updated government planning figures projected an increase in the district’s resource envelope following the release of the Second Budget Call Circular (BCC).

District Planner Benedict Agunsi revealed that the district’s indicative planning figure has increased to UGX 34,889,737,085, representing a rise of over UGX 2 billion compared to the current 2025/2026 financial year budget.

NARO Introduces Anti-Tick Vaccine to Protect Cattle in Apac

The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) has partnered with Apac District Local Government to combat tick infestation and tick-borne diseases affecting cattle through the introduction of a new locally developed vaccine.

The vaccine, NAROVAC Anti-Tick Vaccine (ATV1), was officially launched during a meeting with veterinary practitioners and district leaders at the Apac District Council Hall.

Don Mo Contractors Ltd Hands Over 12.7km NOSP Road to Apac District

Apac District has registered a significant milestone in road infrastructure development following the official handover of a 12.7-kilometer Atopi-Amin-Apok-Anyapo-Ayeng road constructed under the National Oilseed Project (NOSP) by Don Mo Contractors Ltd to the Apac District Local Government.

The commissioning ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Richard Kar Tabaaro, who commended the contractor for delivering the project and emphasized the government's commitment to improving rural infrastructure to enhance socio-economic transformation.

Community, Leaders Trained in Digital Skills to Boost Digital Inclusion in Apac

Community members, district staff, and political leaders from Apac District and Apac Municipality have completed a three-day digital skills development training aimed at empowering rural unserved and underserved communities to fully participate in the digital economy.

The training, conducted from 18th to 20th February 2026 at the Planning Unit Boardroom at Apac District Headquarters, was organized by the Uganda Communications Commission and implemented by Epic Brands.

Apac District Hands Over Education Project Sites Worth UGX 224.9 Million

Apac District Local Government has officially handed over five sites for the implementation of education infrastructure projects worth UGX 224,876,723 million under the Education Sector for FY 2025/2026, in a move aimed at improving learning conditions across selected primary schools.

The handover exercise signals the commencement of works to be undertaken by contracted firms, with all projects expected to be completed within 30 days.

Chegere HC II Maternity Ward Launched as DHO’s Compound Gets Facelift

Apac District has advanced efforts to strengthen health service delivery following the official handover of sites for two key infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening the district’s health sector.

The site for the construction of a new maternity ward at Chegere Health Centre II has been handed over to SB Engineering Ltd. The project, funded through Primary Health Care (PHC) funds, for the start will cost UGX 185 million and is expected to enhance maternal and child health services while positioning the facility for its anticipated upgrade to Health Centre III status.

Apac District Council Approves New Members to District Service Commission and Hospital Board

Apac District Council has approved the appointment of two new members to the District Service Commission and five members to the Apac General Hospital Board during a council meeting held on 10th February 2026 at the Apac District Council Hall.

The approvals were made in accordance with the Local Government Act, aimed at strengthening service delivery and enhancing governance structures within the District.

Apac Leaders Hand Over 20 Mini Science Kits to Boost Science Learning in Primary schools

Apac District leadership, led by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Andrew Onyuk, and the District Chairperson, Hon. Ikomba Asanti Odongo, has officially handed over 20 mini science kits supplied by the Ministry of Education and Sports to selected primary schools across the District.

The beneficiary schools include 15 of the best-performing schools and 5 of the least-performing schools in the district, a deliberate move aimed at both rewarding excellence and uplifting institutions that need improvement in science education.

Residents of Akuli B Village in Atopi Parish, Apac Sub-County, Apac District, have expressed excitement and renewed optimism following a week-long digital skills development training conducted by the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).

The training, held from 26th to 30th January 2026, brought together youth, women, local leaders, and small-scale entrepreneurs eager to embrace digital knowledge and skills aimed at transforming their livelihoods in an increasingly technology-driven world.
