Apac District Council Approves UGX 36.5 Billion Budget for FY 2025/2026

Apac, Uganda— The Apac District Council has officially approved a UGX 36.5 billion budget for the financial year 2025/2026 during a full council meeting held on Friday, May 30, 2025. The budget, which reflects the district’s commitment to inclusive development and improved service delivery, was unanimously endorsed following deliberations that prioritized education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agricultural productivity.
According to the District Chairperson, Hon. Ikomba Asanti Odongo, the approved budget will address key development challenges across the district’s rural and urban areas. “This budget is a result of a consultative process and is aligned with our local development priorities and the National Development Plan IV,” he said.
Key Budget Allocations:
· Education: UGX 11.3 billion to improve school infrastructure, teacher recruitment, and learning materials.
· Health: UGX 10.7 billion allocated for upgrading health facilities, essential drug supply, and recruitment of medical personnel.
· Roads and Infrastructure: UGX 1.6 billion earmarked for road maintenance, bridges, and new infrastructure projects.
· Production and Agriculture: UGX 2.08 billion to support farmers through extension services, inputs, and market access.
· Administrative and Governance Services: UGX 7.3 billion to ensure effective service delivery and institutional support.
The Ag. Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Janet Odongo Akech, emphasized that the implementation of the budget will focus on transparency and performance-based monitoring to ensure value for money. “We have put systems in place to enhance accountability at every level of execution,” she noted.
Stakeholders, including civil society and community leaders, welcomed the budget approval and called for timely implementation of planned projects.
The Apac District Council has also pledged to enhance local revenue mobilization and partner with development agencies to supplement central government funding.
