Apac District Leadership Commissions the Newly Renovated OPD at Ibuje Health Center III

Apac District, Uganda— In a significant step toward improving access to quality healthcare services in the District, the leadership of Apac District has officially commissioned the newly renovated Outpatient Department (OPD) at Ibuje Health Center III.

The commissioning ceremony, presided over by the District Vice Chairperson, Mr. Odongo Tonny Jasper, and Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Ms. Joan Apio, brought together local leaders, health officials, development partners, and members of the Ibuje community to celebrate the completion of this vital infrastructure upgrade.

The renovation, funded through the Primary Health Care (PHC) Development Performance part, has transformed the facility into a more spacious, better-equipped, and patient-friendly environment. It is expected to significantly enhance service delivery, reduce congestion, and improve patient care for thousands of residents in Ibuje sub-town council and surrounding areas.

Speaking at the event, the District Vice Chairperson applauded the collaboration between the district leadership, health workers, and the community.

“This renovation is a testimony to our commitment to strengthening the health system at all levels. A functional OPD is essential in ensuring timely diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for our people,” he noted.

The renovated OPD now features improved waiting areas, consultation rooms, and sanitation facilities, all designed to align with the Ministry of Health's standards for primary health care facilities.

The Apac District Health Officer also emphasized the importance of community ownership and called on residents to safeguard the facility and support health workers in their roles.

This development marks a milestone in Apac District’s ongoing efforts to improve health infrastructure and promote universal access to primary health services, in line with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan.
