Apac District Takes Over Newly Constructed Modern Medicine Store at Apac General Hospital

Apac General Hospital has taken a major step forward in strengthening health service delivery following the official handover of a modern medicine store worth over UGX 672 million by Egiss Engineering Contractors Ltd to Apac District leaders. The handover ceremony, held at the hospital premises, marked the successful completion of a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving the storage, safety, and management of essential medicines and medical supplies.
The newly constructed medicine store is designed to meet modern health facility standards, with improved space, ventilation, security, and organizational systems to ensure the proper handling of pharmaceuticals. Health officials noted that the facility will greatly enhance efficiency in drug storage, reduce wastage, and support better inventory management at the hospital.
Speaking during the handover, a representative from the Ministry of Health expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project, emphasizing their commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that supports public service delivery. Egiss Engineering Contractors Limited officially transferred the facility to the MoH, then to the Apac District, signifying the end of the construction phase and the beginning of operational use by the hospital.
Apac District leaders and health management officials welcomed the new facility. Describing it as a timely intervention that will improve service delivery at Apac General Hospital, which serves thousands of patients from Apac and neighboring districts. They commended the contractor for completing the work according to the required specifications and standards.
Mr. Adiyo Solomon, for the District Health Officer, highlighted that the modern medicine store will enhance accountability and ensure continuous availability of essential medicines, a key pillar in providing reliable healthcare services. With improved storage conditions, the hospital expects better preservation of drugs and increased confidence among patients seeking treatment.
